Canker-Internal-I wish some person would tell me what to do for a dog that has something wrong with his ear, causing him to scratch it and whine, and shake his head. There is no discharge.
No doubt it is internal canker of the ear, not yet advanced to its worst stage. You should examine the ear closely and if there is hardened wax there, drop in a little olive oil to soften it. Wash the ear out thoroughly with warm water, using a syringe, and dry it out as much as possible with a soft, clean cloth. Then take nitrate of silver, five grains, water, one ounce and holding the dog’s head on your knee, ear up, pour in a few drops into the ear so that it runs well down into the passage, and continue to hold his head a few minutes. Do this once each day.
