Bullets to Use on Game-What are the best bullets to use while hunting?
Regarding the type of bullet to use on game, I will say that the ordinary soft-point bullet expands easily enough at most hunting ranges, to suit me; sometimes too easily. While the Hoxie bullet may expand more readily at long range, it seems to me that when the velocity is so low that an ordinary soft-point bullet will not expand, the energy would not give sufficient penetration to kill the game. I would rather depend on a large caliber bullet, and if possible, one with a flat point. Full metal-cases bullets, as a rule, do not kill game well and should not be used for hunting, but some few of those having a very high velocity and a sharp point bullet, driven at such a velocity, has a sort of explosive effect on flesh, driving the tissue outward from its path, in the same way that a stone spreads the water when thrown into it with some force. Of course, this applies only to bullets driven at a very high velocity.
