| | A projectile designed to be fired through a rifled barrel. Bullets can be formed from pure lead, as in a muzzle loader, an alloy, used in cast bullets for smokeless cartridges, or a combination of a gilding metal, usually copper, and lead or lead alloy, in a jacketed bullet.
Bullets must be used that are designed for the task at hand, a cast bullet or target jacketed bullet generally are a poor choice for hunting, as they tend to not expand as well as a jacketed bullet designed expressly for hunting.
