BUCKSKIN COAT — Where can I get a pattern of an Indian style buckskin coat?
We do not know of soy particular style of coat being worn by any of the Indian tribes and very few of them wear buckskin clothing at this late date. The buckskin shirts worn by the early pioneer trappers were made in the style of a coat, quite long, and belted at the waist. The collar was extended into a cape reaching to the shoulder seams. The sleeve had a wide welt inserted and same was cut into a heavy fringe. The edges of the cape and skirt were also fringed.
