BRASS SHELLS vs. PAPER SHELLS
BRASS SHELLS vs. PAPER SHELLS—Are brass shells any better than paper shells, and can they be used in repeating shotguns?
When black powders were in general use, or I should say before the days of smokeless powder, brass shells were popular, mainly because they would stand reloading any number of times and practically no reloading tools were needed, also because the guns were of larger bore and the larger wads used in brass shells fit tighter in the barrels and the shooting was better. But since the advent of smokeless powder the brass shells have become obsolete. They cannot be used in smokeless powder and paper shells are so cheap now also shotguns are bored smaller throughout and wads of the same gauge as the shells fit tightly. Brass shells cannot be used in repeating shotguns.
