Brook Trout-Could I obtain brook trout from the government to stock a stream which flows through our land. What would I have to pay for them? Would they thrive in the climate of North Carolina? Could I close the stream with wire netting to keep them from leaving?
I cannot say whether you can buy brook trout from the government to stock a private stream, or not, but I don’t believe you could. You certainly could not get the large fish and the small fry could bot be kept in by wire netting. You might inquire of your county commissioners. Brook trout will do well in the mountain streams of your state, if the water is clear and cool, and the bed of the stream rocky or gravelly.
