BOX TRAPS FOR MUSKRAT—Will some of you trappers give a plan of how to make a box trap for muskrats. I have heard of them but never saw any.
One of the simplest is: “Take four boards 36 inches long, 1 inch thick, and nail together, leaving both ends open. Next make two small gates of a square piece of wood, with a few stiff wires, and pivot it inside of each open end, so they will rise and fall easily. Fasten the bait in center of box. The stiff wire should be cross twisted with fine wire, to hold all in place.” Set in runways, at feeding places, even under water at burrow entrances, this is effective.
