BOX TRAP FOR COON—Will a box trap hold a coon overnight, and can coons be taken in them as easily as in a steel trap?
Yes, a box trap if made right will hold a coon indefinitely. I have caught many of them in large box traps baited with flab, and in the East they will go into such a trap as readily as into a steel trap—it may be different in other places. The trap must he well made, and if made with a hinged cover like the one described in Fur Farming, must have the cover weighted with a stone and provided with a snap catch to hold it down after the trap is sprung.
