BOILING TRAPS—Will boiling traps in a solution to discolor them ruin the temper of the spring?
Water boils at a temperature of 212 degrees F. The color solution may take a little more heat, but to take the temper out of steel, you must heat it two or three times as hot as this to touch the temper— so here is no danger of spoiling the traps, as long as they are not boiled dry.
