Black Drum
Drum, Black (Sea Drum): Caught in bottom waters and the surf with surf clam (skimmer) and soft clam and crab bait on heavy tackle, same as used for surf Striped Bass. It ranges along the Atlantic coast as far north as Massachusetts, but is most abundant in the Gulf of Mexico and the Southern Atlantic States. It is caught in the surf on the New Jersey shore, particularly at Anglesea, In the spring and summer. Weighs up to eighty pounds. Is the adult of the Banded Drum.
