Bird Lime-What is birdlime, and how is it made?
Bird-lime is a substance used for catching birds. It was largely used by taxidermists and collectors at one time, but I do not believe that there is much of it used today. It is made, I believe, by boiling down linseed oil. It is used by smearing on the boughs of trees where birds alight, and its action is the same as that of sticky fly paper; that is, it holds any small creature that comes in contact with it.
