A bipod is a device that locks onto a rifle via the sling studs or is carried by a hunter and assembled prior to taking a shot. The purpose is to allow a steady shot to be taken.
A bipod has two legs that contact the ground or shooting bench, greatly increasing stability for an accurate shot to be taken.
