Beaver Oil Castors-Can you tell me what dried castor of the beaver is, and where can I get it?
The oil-castors of the beaver are glands filled with a thick, oily, odorous substance found near the true castors, and united to them. They are dried and used as a decoy or bait, being attractive to many furbearing animals. I don’t know where you can purchase them, except through getting them for oneself. If you know of any trappers who catch beavers, you may be able to get them from that source.
