BEE SMOKER—What wood to use? Can you tell me what is best to use to make smoke in bee smoker?
The best thing is punk or thoroughly rotten wood; elm is the best I have tried. Find a log or stump that is soft enough to break up with the hands easily. Put some in pan and set near stove until thoroughly dry; then put some in smoker and ignite with match. You cannot put this out without water; the more you blow it the faster it goes. It will not blaze. When you set your smoker down without draft it will keep for hours. I don’t believe there is a substance in existence that will make so much smoke.
