BEE HUNTING—HABITS OF—Last fall I found a place where bees were feeding on wild flowers. I procured some honey, put some on a plate with a few drops of anise oil and went to the place to line them but then did not notice it. Now, when is the best time to line them with that preparation? What is the best time to hive them? What time in the spring do they hatch?
You should read our Bee Hunt facts pamphlet. The bees simply preferred the flowers to the anise, and a few flowers crushed on the honey might have won them for you. The swarms are hived, usually, in or after blossom time, and they hatch several weeks earlier. Starting with the pamphlet and following instructions, getting other books on the subject, as you need them—as suggested in Bee Hunting—and you find yourself becoming expert on the subject.
