BEECH NUT—What is a beech nut?
The beech nut is the fruit of the beech tree. It is a small triangular nut, resembling a chestnut somewhat, but much smaller. It grows in a small burr, and I believe there are two nuts to each burr, but am not certain. The nuts are eaten by squirrels, raccoons, bears, turkeys and hogs.
