BEAVER, CATCHING ALIVE—I would like to have some person tell me through the question columns how to take beavers alive and uninjured. There are fresh signs along the river and I am anxious to capture the animal alive.

There is no way to take beaver alive and uninjured in steel traps, and the only way I know of for capturing them is by the Indian method of taking them from their holes in the bank. I cannot give a description of this method here but would advise that you read “Canadian Wilde,” which gives the Indian methods of taking these animals.
