BEAR TRAPS—Please let me know whether the Nos. 50 and 150 Newhouse bear traps are large enough and strong enough for the black bears of Pennsylvania. Which is the better of these two traps?

Yes, the traps are large enough and strong enough for black bears anywhere, and I prefer them to the larger sizes. In my opinion the No. 50 is best as it will sometimes hold a bear which is caught only by the toes, while a No. 150 would not as the jaws do not close tight enough for that.
