Usually found on shotguns and is used as a sighting device. Shotguns can have either one or two beads, if two beads are present they must be aligned with the shooters eye and the target to guarantee a hit. Beads are usually brass, but ivory and or red plastic. A recent trend is the replacement of the classic bead with a fiber optic front sight.
