BARK SCRATCHED—Here in Iowa I notice the bark scratched at base of trees. What does it?
If there are any animals, such as wild cats, panther, leopard or any other animal belonging to the cat family, all such animals sharpen their claws by scratching old rotten wood and trees. More than likely the scratches are made by dogs leaping against trunks of the trees after squirrels.
