| | The study and science of projectiles in motion. Ballistics and ballistic tables allow the hunter to estimate wind deflection and bullet drop in the field. It also allows the hunter and marksman to zero a firearm to maximize the point blank range of a firearm.
Ballistics can be broken into 2 segments, the first, internal ballistics is the study of what happens to a projectile from the moment the firing pin strikes the primer to the moment the bullet leaves the barrel. External ballistics is the study of what happens to the projectile after it leaves the barrel to the moment it strikes the target.
