BADGER TRAPPING—Will some H-T-T reader give his beat method of trapping badger?
I am not an expert but I have caught several and found it very easy, provided the trap was set right. I always set the trap out- aide their den and cover over lightly with dirt, being careful not to get any under pan of trap. Do not set your trap in the hole as they will spring it and you will get a bunch of hair for your trouble. The badger is a very strong animal for its size, and unless you fasten your trap well he will pull up stakes and leave for parts unknown. I caught a full grown badger in a Victor No. 1 and it held him fine, but I would recommend a larger trap as they would stand the racket better. Traps should be No 1 ½ if Newhouse— other makes, No. 2.
