All of the same turkey hunting principles apply when hunting wild turkey with a bow. Nest to wing shooting, archery hunting for turkey may well be the hardest task an archer may try.
Any bow may be used to hunt turkey, although a compound, due to its increased accuracy is highly recommended. Practice with your bow often, as the wild turkey offers a very small target when compared to a white tailed deer of bear. The archer should be able to consistently place all shots within six inches at the anticipated range.
A good 3-4 blade fixed point with a spring small game stopper can be devastating to a tom. The stopper is used to aid in shocking power as in stops the forward flight of the arrow causing the kinetic energy to be expended on the target.
Some hunters swear by the use of expanding broadheads, as they allow for pinpoint accuracy and cut devastating wound channels. Whatever broadhead you choose make sure you practice with it to ensure point of aim prior to the hunt.
