American Sole
Sole, American (Hog Choker, etc.): Caught on light tackle with small Flounder bait from Boston and Nahant to the mouth of the Mississippi River. Occurs in all the rivers south of the Susquehanna. Measures up to six inches in length. Along the Californian coast the common sole reaches a length of about 20 inches and a weight of five or six pounds.
