AID (in the Manege), called also cherishing, is used to avoid the necessity of correction, and consists in helping a horse to work true and mark his motions with exactness. See BnouiLiyER. The inner heel, inner leg, inner rein, &c. are called Inner, Aids. The outer heel, outer leg, outer rein, &c. are called Outer Aids.
