Age of Ginseng-How old does the wild ginseng get?
The largest I found was twenty-one years old. A brother trapper some years ago found one 51 years old which weighed 1 pound 1 ounce dried root. The oldest roots however are not always the largest. In the forest, that is wild, ginseng is usually mature, full size, at from ten to fifteen years, depending upon soil, shade, etc.
