


|  |  The top break action refers to any firearm action in which the barrels or barrels tip down allowing loading and extraction of a cartridge once a lever, latch or button is actuated. The most common top break action today is that of the shotgun, be it over and under, single shot or side by side. Once common, very few top break pistols and rifles are being produced today, some notable current production guns are the Thompson Center Contender and Encore, and the Ruger number one.
