Accuracy of .32-40 Marlin and Stevens | |

Accuracy of .32-40 Marlin and Stevens-Which is the most accurate and which would be the best for fox and geese shooting up to 300 yards-the .32-40 Marlin or Stevens of the same caliber? How is the .25-35 Savage for such shooting? I would also like to know which is best for fox and geese, the 10 or 12 gauge shotgun. Which will kill the farthest.
When using the regular fixed ammunition the two rifles mentioned are equally accurate. For target shooting the Stevens would be better as the bullet can be seated in the rifling form the breach or it can be loaded from the muzzle, either plan greatly increases the accuracy. For hunting the Marling, being a repeater is best, but any of the .25-35 caliber rifles or the .25-36 Marlin will be found better than the .32-40 for that use. The only advantage that the 10 gauge gun has over the 12 gauge is that it makes a larger pattern; one will kill game as far as the other.
