6 M/M RIFLE FOR DEER—Is a 6 mm rifle large enough for deer?
Yes, I consider a 6 m/m rifle heavy enough, but it is unnecessarily powerful and there are others of lower power and larger bore that I consider better. All kinds of American big game has been killed with the 6 m/m, and 6.5 m/m rifles made abroad have been used successfully for hunting elephants, and other African game. The Lee Straight Pull rifle, which is probably the one you are thinking of, is a very powerful arm, but I do not consider it as good a deer gun as the .30-30, .32-40 high power, and others of like power.
