.401 WINCHESTER AND REMINGTON AUTOLOADER | |

.401 WINCHESTER AND REMINGTON AUTOLOADER-Is the .401 Winchester heavy enough for moose and grizzly bears? If not, which of the Winchester Self Loaders, or the Remington Autoloaders would you recommend? If the gun were fitted with Daniel’s Concentric Ring Sight, would this make a good outfit for hunting game in dark timber? If not, what would be good?
I do not believe you could get a better rifle for that kind of hunting than the Winchester .401. The Remington Auto-loader, in .35 caliber, would be almost as good, and would probably be better for long range shooting. If you like an open rear right, you can get nothing better than the Daniels, but I am not sure that is made for the Remington Auto loading rifle. I would prefer an ivory bead front sight, of medium size, for that kind of work. You can also get sights with revisable beads, if you like.
