.44-40 Colt’s Frontier-Is there any other cartridges tha my be used in the Colt’s Frontier revolver, .44-40 caliber; I mean can a cartridge of less power, like the .44 Colt or the .44 Webley be used in it?

The only cartridge of lighter load that I know of that can be used in this arm is the one loaded by the Remington Arms-U.M.C. Co., with 28 grains of powder. It is the regular .44-40 with a light powder charge. You know the .44-40 shell is slightly tapered or shouldered and the real caliber is .42, so the straight .44 caliber cartridges cannot be used well in a gun chambered for the .44-40.
