.41 Caliber Rifle-Is there a .41 caliber center fire rifle cartridge made, and if so what rifle uses it? Could I get a .41 Swiss rifle re-chambered to handle this cartridge?
There is no .41 center fire rifle cartridge made in the U.S., but the .40-90 Ballard seems to be of the same caliber, both bullet and body of shell, but the cartridge over all is about 5.16 inch longer. I am not familiar with the action of this rifle, but you can easily tell whether it will handle a longer cartridge. If it will, and a center fire firing pin can be fitted into the bolt, I believe it could be so changed, but even then the bore of the barrel, and the rifling might not be right. I don’t believe either that the gun would be worth the change, even if it is possible, which is very doubtful.
