.32-20 FOR TRAP LINE—Would a .32-20 be a good trap line gun, in a timbered country where there are wolves, bears, deer, etc.? Would it be powerful enough for these animals?
It might be all right as a trap line gun, when you would only shoot at deer and bears when you have a good steady shot. It is too light to use often for shooting at big game, for while the .32-20 will kill deer and bears if it hits at the right place, any hunter knows that this cannot be counted on. Why not get a more powerful arm and use short-range cartridges when you do not care to use the full charge? Many big game animals are wounded with these light guns each season, and die a lingering death in some secluded spot. I earnestly advocate the use of high powered rifles for big game.
