.38-55 FOR BIG GAME—Is the .38-55 heavy enough for moose and such game as one would find in the Rockies, if black powder and express or metal cased bullets are used? Which is the best killer and which would you prefer the Marlin or Winchester?
It is heavy enough for short and medium ranges when using black powder and a plain lead or hollow point pullet. The Marlin high power smokeless is powerful enough for all kinds of big game hunting and has more power than the Winchester high velocity. If black powder is used one gun is as good as the other.
