.32 Self Loading Winchester
.32 Self Loading Winchester-How many grains of powder, and what kind, is used in the .32 Self Loading Winchester cartridge? Can a low pressure load and lead bullet be used? Is the bullet the same as the .32-40-140 grain bullet?
The cartridge makers do not tell what charge of powder is used in this cartridge, or any of the other modern smokeless cartridges. The arm would not operate with a load giving much less than the normal pressure, but the cartridges can be reloaded and reloading tools are made by the marlin Firearms Co. The bullet is their No. 321298 and is made of one part tin to fifteen parts lead, or one part Ideal alloy to six parts lead. The powder charge should be 8 grains of Laflin and Rand Sharpshooter powder. The bullet weighs 155 grains and that of the .32-40 weighs 165 grains. The .32-40 weighs 165 grains. The .32-40 bullet is .319 inch diameter and the .32 S.L. is .321.
