.32 RIMFIRE MARLIN—Please tell me whether the .32 caliber rim fire Marlin rifle is a good one for deer?
I am using a .32 caliber rim-fire Marlin rifle and find it O. K. for small game, but have never tried it on deer. Mr. W. L. Marble claims to have killed 12 deer and one bear with a .32 caliber rim-fire Stevens Pocket Rifle. It would appear from this that results depend mainly on the accuracy of the arm and the ability of the shooter. The Marlin is a splendid shooting gun and with peep sights to improve the aim one can do a lot of execution. The .32 long rim-fire is more powerful and a better cartridge than the .32 Long Rifle. It gives better penetration and is more accurate at long ranges but with a little higher trajectory. It also carries 8 grains more lead than the L. R. I use the Long Rifle cartridge most of the time on account of the inside lubrication.
