.32-40 CARBINE—Will a .32-40 carbine with a 20-inch barrel shoot as far and as decorate as a 26-inch barrel rifle of the same caliber, and will it last as long?
There is but little difference noticeable under ordinary conditions. I prefer the short barrel in the kind of hunting you have in West Virginia—laurels, greenbriers and rough woods country. There is a slight advantage in the long barrel for steadiness in holding. I think the 20-inch barrel lasts better, because it isn’t so long to clean, and it’s easier to take care of.
