.30-30 SMOKELESS—Is the .30-30 Smokeless M. C. heavy enough for the bears found in the mountains of Montana? If not, what gun would you advise me to take, for use under 150 yards?

I have friends living in western Montana who hunt bears each season, and use .30-30 and .25-35 caliber rifles. The .30-30 is a favorite and much used in the West. If you want my own personal opinion, I will say that the .30-30 is too light. Also, do not count on doing all of your shooting at ranges less than 150 yards.
