.30-30 CARBINE—I want to get a .30-30 caliber Winchester rifle to carry on a saddle. Would you advise the regular carbine or the extra short barrel—about 15-inch barrel?
The extra short barrel was devised to meet the demand for a saddle and under-the-coat arm. The carbine is the genuine saddle weapon, however. I think the shooting qualities of accuracy and power are with the carbine length, and should prefer that length.
