Never use a 243 to kill deer because last year I got a nice shot at a pretty good buck and it dropped but after we waited a little to make sure it was dead we checked were it dropped and it had run off so we followed the blood trail for about 300 yards and into a pine thicket and we never could find it so to this day I never use a 243 to deer hunt
