22 Expansion-Will cutting a cross on the point of a .22 caliber bullet make it more destructive to game?
No, it would make no difference. This trick is only useful when cartridges of considerable power are used as in such cases a cross cut deeply into the point of a lead bullet may cause it to expand more readily. A .22 caliber bullet will expand very little on game, no matter what style of bullet is used. If you like, you can get .22 caliber cartridges with hollow point bullets. These are supposed to expand readily and kill game better than the solid bullet, but I have never been able to detect any difference in their work.
