.22 AUTOMATIC—Will someone who has used the .22 Winchester Automatic rifle give a good description of the arm and tell what it will do? Can the regular .22 Cal. Cartridge be used as well as the .22 Cal. Automatic?
The .22 Automatic is an accurate and powerful little rifle, but it does not have the power of the .22 Winchester R. F., Model 1890. The weight of bullet is 45 grains, velocity 882 feet per second, energy at 55 feet 78 foot pounds, penetration at 10 feet, 5 7/8 inch, pine boards, trajectory at 100 yards, 6.10 inches.
The gun has a 20 inch round barrel and weighs about 5 3/4 pounds. The action is strong and simple, and if the gun is kept clean will always work perfectly. The regular .22 Cal. ammunition cannot be used as the diameter is not the same, and it does not have the power necessary to operate the mechanism.
