12 GAUGE BRASS SHELLS—Is it necessary to clean brass shotgun shells before reloading them? What size of wads should be used in 12 gauge brass shells?
It is not necessary, but it is best to wash them well in hot soapsuds as soon as possible after firing, also remove the exploded primers. Some users of brass shells say that the wads will hold better if the shells are not cleaned, but I think that if wads of the proper size are used that they will hold all right. In 12 gauge shells use 10 gauge wads. Brass shells are seldom used now as paper shells are far more satisfactory and smokeless powder cannot be used in brass shells.
