Making Memories Hunting
I've been an avid hunter for 37 years. My fondest memories since childhood involve those connected with hunting, the outdoors. Our family has passed stories from camp through 3 generations, so it wasn't unusual for my son to remember stories passed on from his grandfather. When my son asked for a knife for Christmas, I didn't realize that his interests to hunting stories often connected to the knives passed on from his grandfather to myself and siblings. My son wanted a knife to begin his own memories of the hunts. It made me realize the details that our children pick up from the stories they hear, and why it is critical for parents to make certain their words are worth listening to. It is the hunting stories passed down from generations that have continued the love and respect for the great outdoors so cherished in our family.
